Over the next decade, Israel’s army will move a large portion of its offices—including those of many of its key technology commands—out of the greater Tel Aviv area and relocating them some 60 miles south, to Be’er Sheva in Israel’s rock-strewn Negev desert. Many of the world’s biggest tech companies are following, eager to stay close to the Israel Defense Forces’ tech-savvy workforce. EMC, the U.S.-based data storage and cloud computing giant, Lockheed Martin, Oracle Corporation, IBM, Pay-Pal’s CyActive Ltd, and Deutsche Telekom AG, have agreed to set up operations in the 115 degrees Fahrenheit summer temperatures.

On May 22, 2015 according to a dispatch by the WSJ, “The U.S. Navy flew a P-8  Poseidon surveillance plane this week over the South China Sea’s Spratly Islands, where Beijing is building military bases atop reefs and rocks claimed by several of its neighbors. A CNN team invited along for the mission reported that China’s military repeatedly tried to order the U.S. plane away. “This is the Chinese navy,” it radioed in English. “Please go away . . . to avoid misunderstanding.”

On May 26, under an updated agreement that streamlines the certification process, the U.S. Air Force certified SpaceX to compete for government space launches. The first proposal that SpaceX can provide a competitive bid is June 2015 for GPS III launch services.  SpaceX, with its Falcon 9 launch vehicle, can now compete for national security space launches against United Launch Alliance, the Boeing-Lockheed Martin team that currently have demonstrated a solid operational record on Air Force spy satellite launches.

Combined Resolve IV series of exercises, which started May 1 and are set to last until June 26. It is a biannual event in which the US army units stationed in Europe train to act together with their European allies and familiarize the newly-rotated units with the multinational environment. U.S. satellite and aircraft surveillance imagery shows China has positioned weaponry on one of the artificial islands it is developing in the South China Sea, American officials said, supporting their suspicions that Beijing has been building up the reefs for military purposes.  China follows a fait accompli approach to its 800 mile territorial claims and will use military platforms to enforce the Chinese Communist Party’s new offensive and defensive strategy.  The U.S. imagery detected two Chinese motorized artillery pieces on one of the artificial islands built by China about one month ago.  (The DONAR Self-Propelled Artillery Gun is shown for illustration only and is not used by the PLA)

This week, the US Air Force notified private industry that is seeking GPS III Launch Services, According to the SPACE & MISSILE SYSTEMS CENTER (AFSPC), “launch service includes launch vehicle production, mission integration and launch operations.
