Hughes Network Systems, the global leader in broadband satellite solutions and services.
Hughes announced four major announcements at SATELLITE 2018
•Its partnership with mu Space and SES Networks to provide satellite-based broadband access to rural and under served communities in Thailand.
•Enhancements to its JUPITER System, the most advanced broadband satellite platform, including doubled throughput of HT2xxx terminals to over 200 Mbps, expanded support for maritime applications and a Rapid In-route Parsing and Prioritization Scheme for fast HTTPS browsing.
The JUPITER™ System is next generation very small aperture terminal (VSAT) platform from Hughes for broadband services over both high-throughput and conventional satellites. Featuring a flexible and robust gateway architecture with lights-out operation, enhanced IPoS air interface for bandwidth efficiency and performance, and high-throughput terminals, JUPITER enables operators to achieve the highest possible capacity and efficiency for any satellite broadband implementation. The foundational technology is the powerful JUPITER System on a Chip (SoC), a custom–designed VLSI processor employing a multi-core architecture and enabling 200 Mbps of throughput on every terminal within the JUPITER family.
•Shipment of the first of 40 gateways that will support the OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, the first of many milestones to bridge the global digital divide and bring service availability to everyone, no matter where they live. The contract for $190M was signed and announced in November 2017.
•One of the world’s largest oil well services company has selected Hughes’ HT2900 Rapid Deploy Communications Hub, delivering high data throughputs and mobile fleet services to enable real-time analysis and evaluation of natural resource exploration on land and in maritime environments.
