Richard Kusiolek, Managing Editor of GMCstream Incorporated meets with Christopher Richins, co-founder and CEO of RBC Signals. RBC Signals is a multi-national company enabling an improved commercial-focused model for the delivery and processing of real-time data from satellites in Low Earth Orbit. Richins stated that RBC Signals is “the first and only provider in our sector using a shared economy model to leverage existing ground station infrastructure to deliver and process real-time data. Our competitive pricing is critical for commercial satellite operators to make their own business plans financially feasible as the global space sector continues to commercialize.” Richins closed a seed round of funding. This is notable because the company, which is led by space industry veterans and is doing something very entrepreneurial, is the only real-time satellite date delivery provider capitalizing on the sharing economy (much like Uber or AirBnB) to meet the needs of its commercial satellite operator customers.

Re- Published on Jun 1, 2017--XTAR operates at two orbital locations today.  "We are at 29 East where the XTAR EUR satellite operates.  It is wholly owned by XTAR today, and it provides fantastic coverage throughout the Atlantic, Europe, Africa, and into Asia to about Singapore.  We also operate a satellite at 30 West, and that is our XTAR-LANT (Spainsat) payload that is actually a hosted payload, so we are the hosted payload on what’s referred to as Spainsat, and that gives us reach East/West/through Denver. So there’s an overlap of the two satellites in sort of the Europe and Africa area.  But I think more interestingly is as you can see, we were from our start built on the principle of hosted payloads.  In fact, we both host and are hosted.  LANT is a hosted payload on Spainsat, and the XTAR EUR satellite we host a backup payload for the Spanish MOD (Ministry of Defence)."
